At long last, I pronounce thee: FINISHED
Well, it's finally done.
After over a year on hiatus, I'm proud to say that I've eventually gotten around to fleshing out this game's ideas more thoroughly. The initial jam version had a few things switched off for the sake of clarity, but I've taken off the training wheels and cooked up a full set of puzzles that should offer a few hours of new gameplay! (Oh, and also fixed a bunch of broken things and reworked how the game works on a fundamental level)
I decided to get a bit experimental with the last couple of stages just to see how high I could crank the difficulty, and suffice to say there's a lot of room within these mechanics for some really tricky puzzling.
I know there's quite a few QoL things that I never ended up adding (lack of save/load mid-level being the most egregious), but you've gotta draw the line somewhere. I have plenty of ideas for how I might extend this game farther (level editor, right-angled nodes, triplet feel, mobile port?). So who knows, maybe another update might come by a few years down the line.
For now, though, I'm calling this finished. It was a fun student project, and a nice little time capsule of my current tastes in game design.
And now, I sleep.
P.S. for any music theory people:
Yes, I know what musical counterpoint is. Yes, I know that the game's name isn't correct. It's been too long, and I already made the logo so I'm not changing it.
